COURSE DESCRIPTION

M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering or Master of Technology in Agricultural Engineering is a postgraduate Agricultural Engineering course. The degree course usually comprises the specialization study in any one out of these main branches of agriculture engineering namely: Agricultural (Crop) Process & Food Engineering, Farm Machinery & Power Engineering, Irrigation & Drainage Engineering and Soil Water Conservation Engineering. More clearly, it is the study of applying engineering principles to the food and agricultural industries to make farming easier, more efficient and more profitable through the design and development of new agricultural machinery and through innovations in irrigation systems, power systems, water and soil conservation, etc. In short, this degree course mainly focuses on the study of the application of the concepts and techniques of various fields of engineering to the solution of problems arising in the field of agriculture and rural living. The duration of the course is two years and the course is an important and valuable that is also career orienting in nature.

M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering Eligibility

  • The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing an M.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) degree is qualifying B.E./B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering or equivalent examination.
  • Some of the reputed institutes conduct entrance examination for admission to their M.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) degree course. Generally, the admission is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Score Merit List.

M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering Course Suitability

  • Candidates having good organizing skills, communication skills, precision, understanding power and capacity to toil are good match for it.
  • Those who are familiar with product engineering, equipment research and designing can go for the course.
  • Other qualities are logical thinking, ability to deal with people diplomatically, and patience, ability to keep calm under pressure and in inevitable crises, creativity, and flexibility to understand and apply new technologies.

How is M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering Course Beneficial?

  • The ever-growing concerns regarding environmental protection are opening new avenues for agricultural engineers.
  • Students after attaining an M.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering) degree can work in a variety of settings, including government environmental organizations, private consulting firms, and agricultural machinery manufacturers.
  • The M.Tech. Degree course in agricultural engineering combines the knowledge of mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering which aids in designing and improving agricultural systems, equipment, and tools, thereby helping farmers to increase crop production while lowering costs.
  • The course also equips its students to focus on the impacts of farming practices on the environment and develop means to reduce pollution and restore the damaged ecosystems.
