COURSE DESCRIPTION

M.Sc. Applied Chemistry or Master of Science in Applied Chemistry is a postgraduate Chemistry course. Applied Chemistry is the application of the study of chemical elements and compounds to industry and the arts. Applied Chemistry enables students to demonstrate their abilities as self-directed researchers and problem-solvers. The duration of the course is two years and the syllabus for it is divided into four semesters. The course is being provided by many colleges and universities in their campuses in the country. It is a career orienting in nature that opens many job scopes for the candidates after its successful completion.

M.Sc. Applied Chemistry Eligibility

  • A pass in bachelor's degree with science subjects Chemistry, Maths, Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of Second Class securing at least 55% of the aggregate marks

M.Sc. Applied Chemistry Course Suitability

  • Those who have the interest in solving problems like energy, materials food, water & environment are the most suitable for it.
  • Candidates having the capability of developing and applying their skills and methodology to a range of techniques used in chemistry and applied chemistry also can go for the course.
  •  They must have professional transferable skills such as communication, information technology, problem solving and teamwork.
  • Applicants willing for further research work also are suitable for the course.

How is M.Sc. Applied Chemistry Course Beneficial?

  • It is beneficial to be specialized in one of three areas of high technological and scientific interest such as polymer engineering, catalysis and nanotechnology, and synthesis and medicinal chemistry.
  • The degree course offers good base for further research work studies such as M.Phil. and Ph.D.
  • Course provides a high quality education in applied chemistry, and to produce research chemists with an engineering background who are capable of fulfilling some of the key research and technical needs of the petroleum industry.
  • They can also get jobs in pharmaceutical companies, petroleum companies, chemical industries, perfume industries, research organizations like ISRO, DRDO, Bhabha Atomic research centre etc.
