M.Sc. Geography or Master of Science in Geography is postgraduate Geography course. Geography covers the study of the Earth-the land, topography, attributes, people and phenomena. The duration of M.Sc. in Geography is mostly two academic years but it varies from institute to institute. The Aliah University Kolkata is providing this course in five years full time after 10+2. Generally, Minimum time to complete the course is two years. There are many colleges and universities which are providing this course in their campuses; it is because of its increasing value and career orienting nature.

M.Sc. Geography Eligibility

• The candidate should have B.A. with Geography special or B.Sc. with Geography as a special subject or any B.Sc. with Geography at second year level.
• However, for admission to M.Sc. in Geography a candidate must also have offered Chemistry as one of the subjects at the Graduate level.

M.Sc. Geography Course Suitability

• Candidates should have probing bent of mind, keen observation, analytical and logical thinking and computer skills are good suitable for it.
• They should have an interest in mathematics and have good communication and interpersonal skills. 
• They should be physically fit and be healthy to work in any situation & locale, and must keep an updated data regarding the earth and the changes occurring.
• They should be of the mind of enjoying travelling, reading, studying and be able to work independently in most of the situations.

How is M.Sc. Geography Course Beneficial?

• Students can get jobs with economic or agricultural institutes as forest managers.
• Those who are interested in archaeology can pursue a career in that direction.  
• It is also possible for the candidates to work as Demographers with the State as well as Central government firms. They take in students for research, intelligence work and remote sensing interpretation in addition to mapping.
• The other options available for Geographist are transportation planning, tourism, travel planning and social services.
• They can also appear into Civil Service stream too.
