M.A. Social Work or Master of Arts in Social Work is postgraduate Social Work course. It covers social work which is a professional and academic discipline committed to the pursuit of social welfare, social change and social justice. The duration of M.A. in Social Work is mostly of two academic years but it varies from institute to institute. Certain institutes offer it as Master of Social Work (M.S.W.). Generally, the minimum time to complete the course is two years. Course is available both in full time and may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The curriculum for the course is divided into four semesters plus field work. This Masters’ degree is an important one and provides many job opportunities to the candidates.
