Bachelor of Interior Design also termed as B.I.D. is an undergraduate Interior Designing course. BID course provides knowledge of building, construction, lighting, colour and furniture. Interior designing is very close to architecture as designing of the interiors is dependent largely on architecture. The course curriculum deals with interior design of places and spaces like a commercial building interior, interior of a home, public building or mode of transport, a theatre set, as well as an exhibition stand amongst others. The program introduces students to design principles, colour theory, space planning, concept development, problem analysis and design technology. The focus of the program is to generate awareness on the functional and aesthetic qualities of design. While the majority of institute’s offer it as a 3 years course, there are some which also provide the same with duration of 4 and 5 years duration. The abbreviation BID is same as of B.Sc. (Interior Design) so before joining the course do verify which one are you going to pursue.
