COURSE DESCRIPTION


B.A. Hons. Sociology or Bachelor of Arts Honours in Sociology is an undergraduate Sociology course. Sociology is the study of society. It is a social science, a term with which it is sometimes synonymous, which uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop and refine a body of knowledge about human social activity. B.A. is generally three academic year degree course and it may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The syllabus is divided into three parts and eight papers. The B.A. (Hons.) Sociology course is offered by almost every college and university in the country because of its value and importance. After having the degree course completed candidates have a lot of career opportunities in many human welfare related fields.


B.A. Hons. Sociology Eligibility

  • The candidates should have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent exam in Arts stream from a recognised school Board.
  • Selection is based on marks secured in the Senior Secondary High School Examination of the CBSE or an equivalent Board. In various colleges, it conducts entrance exams plus interview for admission.

B.A. Hons. Sociology Course Suitability

  • Students those who interested in Sociology and other human being related activities are the most suitable for this course.
  • Second, candidates possessing the capability of researching, judging and evaluating complex information, making reasoned arguments orally (in tutorials and presentations) and in written work are suitable for it.
  • Those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level and want to become lecturer and teacher also are good match for it.

How is B.A. Hons. Sociology Course Beneficial? 

  • This degree course enables the students to go for various Sociology related jobs such as in industry, commerce, the NHS, education authorities, further and higher education, and charitable, counselling and voluntary organisations.
  • One can go for higher degree programmes in respective subjects for further research work in Sociology.
  • Opportunities also exist for sociology graduate in the civil service and graduate management training schemes. Sociology graduates work with a varied and diverse client group during their career.
